What happens to the more than 350'000 pairs of shoes we produce every year?

The idea of all these shoes ending up in the trash incinerator got us thinking and prompted us to act.

Launched in 2021, Second Life is kybun Joya's "reuse-a-shoe" program, which gives used shoes a second life.

We freshen up shoes that are still wearable by hand in our workshop. We repair what is necessary, replace laces, change insoles so that the next person can enjoy them. Used for you, does not mean used for someone else!

If we can't save the shoes and another lifetime doesn't make sense, we disassemble the shoes professionally to reuse as many of the resources as possible. We try to reuse as much of the material as possible.

Feedback from our customers, as well as our own realization of finite resources, motivated us to create the Second Life organization. In this way we contribute to social and environmental sustainability and would like to motivate other entrepreneurs to think in the direction of a circular economy.
